Genealogy

My Dad did a lot of genealogy research several years back, and I've recently taken an interest in it. Michele's family has also collected a great deal of information about their heritage. It's amazing to me how easily information about the family can be lost. I've got a picture of what looks like a very old family reunion and we don't know who anyone in it is. You think to yourself, "how could anyone not know who my parents and siblings are," but if no one records that information, a few generations down the road your great grandchildren might not be able to figure it out.

So I've decided to do my part and share the information others in my family have already collected. Michele's family has a whole lot more -- they even know when the original Murphys came to America (which was before the Revolutionary War). I'm hoping that I'll be contacted by some other Loudermilks who can help me figure out that same information about my family.

There's a page on my web site about all this, with links to my CGI-based family tree. Later, I'll add a "details" page for each person with more information about them and pictures -- I've got a box full of old pictures and documents that need to be scanned. But for now, click on over for the on-the-fly family tree.

I just think it's cool as hell that you made up someone named "
Maude Marie Gordon Stephens Lane Rum". That takes alot of balls.
